Here are listed the key points of the new legislation.

Minimum size to make it readable labels: the labels must have the compulsory minimum typeface no smaller than 1.2 mm (by reference to the "x" in lower case), or 0.9 mm if the packages have an area of ​​less than 80 cm ². If the surface of the package is less than 10 square centimeters, the label may bear only the main information (product name, allergens, net weight, date of minimum durability, etc..) Mandatory nutrition declaration: the energy content and the percentages of fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars, protein and salt, must be indicated on the table in a comprehensible whole and in the same field of view. All information must be expressed per 100g or per 100ml and can also be expressed in portions.

Highlighting the presence of allergens, the Regulation provides different modes of indication of allergenic substances - which will be highlighted in the list of ingredients to allow the consumer to more easily locate them in food. The new rules also stipulate that the information on allergens must also be provided for non-packaged foods, such as those sold in restaurants and canteens.

Deadline compulsory for all: The expiration date will be mandatory for all foods, even those packaged individually. Today, usually only appears on the large pack.

Food tarot: Regarding imitation of food, it was predicted that similar to other foods, but products with different ingredients, such as "cheese-like" products with plant materials must be easily identifiable. The meat obtained from the combination of multiple pieces of meat to be designated as "reconstituted meat", the same is true for fish, which will be referred to as "reconstituted fish".
